Our guest speaker in 2008 was Pete Rea, and in 2009 we had Gary Cohen. For the 2010 marathon, as part of the pre-marathon festivities, Gulf Winds Track Club presents as part of its Lecture Series a talk by John L. Parker, Jr., author of 'Once a Runner' and 'Again to Carthage'. The talk will be held at the Turner Auditorium in the Fine and Performing Arts Center on Tallahassee Community College Campus, and is open to runners, members of GWTC, and the general public.
We will have a pasta dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m., to be followed at 7:30 p.m. with our guest speaker. Dinner, provided by Riccardo's Restaurant, will consist of spaghetti with meat balls or vegetarian sauce, salad, bread and drink (bottled water or soda compliments of Pepsi). A short talk on the marathon and its course will be held, questions answered, and door prizes given out, compliments of Mizuno. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at packet pick-up. Due to limited seating capacity, the dinner tickets are limited to marathon/half marathon registrants. Dinner will be served in the Economic & Workforce Development Building (EWD), and the lecture will be held in the Fine and performing Arts Center (FPAC) (see map for building and parking locations, and click here for driving directions.
